Mary Kay Fall 2017 | Rosé Nudes & Smoky Greys

Technically yesterday was the first day of Fall-- however I am not yet reaching for my smokey plums and berry lips. I went for a walk yesterday for an hour and actually got a sun burn. But that being said, sooner or later we will be reaching for our fall jackets, and when the air gets cool and crisp I put away my corals in search of something a bit moodier. Recently Mary Kay was nice enough to send me their new fall launches, and I am really excited to be sharing them here with you today!

The Fall/Winter 2017 collection includes two eyeshadow palettes ($27 CAD each), two lip suedes ($19 CAD each) and three nail polishes ($10 CAD each). While I typically associate rosey hues with spring, the subtle smokiness of these pinks really pulls them into fall for me. This is a great colour range for those looking to update their routine for the new season without quite heading into burgundy-and-gold cut crease territory.

For this look I am wearing the Rosé Nudes palette. I applied the centre cream shadow all over my lid and brow bone. I used the shade on the left in my crease (lighter rose), the shimmery taupe on my lid, and the shade on the top (matte-ish purple) in the outer crease. I finished it off with a classic cat's eye and mascara.

I love the way this purple palette brings out the green in my eyes. I found the shadows easy to work with, there was some fall out, but nothing really note worthy. I think this is a great little palette (I keep wanting to saw quad, but there are five shadows in it) with a generous amount of each shade. The Simply Smoky palette is full of gorgeous blues and greys -- I'm just not as much of a fan of how those colours look on my complexion!

On my lips I am wearing the Rose Blush lip suede. I love this wearable pink shade, and its demi-matte finish. It applied evenly and was comfortable on my lips.

Here I am wearing Mulberry Muse. This berry lip suede is a really pretty colour, but I found it a bit patchy. It was more difficult to apply than Rose Blush. I love shades like this for fall though, and if you are willing to work with it you can get it to look nice. This just isn't a one swipe and done sort of shade.

Can we also give my boyfriend a round of applause for taking these photos of me for this post? He has gotten quite good at taking the MOTD shots the way I like it-- close enough to show the product, but not so close, if you know what I mean.

As for the nail polishes, my favourite for every day fall wear is Rose Blush. This pretty mauvey-pink is feminine but also appropriate for work and fun. I really like the nail polish brush, and generally quite like their formula. Personally Violet Silk is a bit too dark for my liking. Pink Escape is a very pretty pale pink. I find taking nail polish photos to be the hardest -- I always end up not liking the way my hand is holding the bottle. If you have any tips on how to take a good nail polish photo that would be much appreciated!

Overall I am really impressed by the Mary Kay Fall 2017 launch. I think that the shades are for the most part quite wearable and are the sort of shades that the every day woman could wear to work or on a date. Have you had a chance to try this collection yet? What products are you loving for fall?

These products were sent for my review. Opinions remain my own!
