Busy as a Bee | Hillcrest Mall

Image
Blogging has opened me up to quite a number of unique experiences that I don't think I could have imagined in my wildest dreams. Meeting a contestant on the bachelor? Thanks Laneige! Being surprised by a celebrity at a beauty class? I have Make Up Forever to thank! Getting literally the same PR box as countless HUGE YouTubers? Merci beaucoup Too Faced! But in terms of straight up the strangest, most unique, and otherwise entirely unexpected? Being invited to stand on a mall rooftop while a lady wearing nothing other than street clothes opens up a hive with roughly 10,000 bees, while I stand just feet away? Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill just may take the cake! Bees actually don't really freak me out. Its the wasps that worry me (no, not the country club variety). I actually find single bees on their own quite charming. I don't often open up about my personal life. However four years ago this month my Poppy (my maternal grandfather) passed away from cancer. I actually feel ...

The Vaughan Mills Shopping Shuttle Is Back!

Image
Last week I was invited to be on Vaughan Mills first shopping shuttle of the season! For those of us in Toronto we all know that Vaughan Mills is a shopping destination full of great deals. But we also know that it can be a hike to get there... especially without a car! Enter: The Vaughan Mills Shopping Shuttle. The shuttle is clearly, and creatively branded! I'll take those sun glasses please! The shuttle departs daily from June 1st until September 30th at 10 am, returning from Vaughan Mills at 3:00 pm. Afternoon service leaves downtown at 1:00 pm and leaves the mall at 6:00 PM. Service will then resume just in time for Christmas shopping on November 24th running through to December 26th with the exception of Christmas day.  The bus seats 55 passengers, and it is important to be back on your assigned us as the busses do indeed fill up. I arrived at about 9:30 AM to 123 Front Street thinking I would be early only to find a gaggle of people. I will admit tha...

Bite Lip Lab Toronto | Review & Tips To Make Your Trip A Success

Image
A few months ago my friend Courtney and I went to the Bite Lip Lab in Toronto to design our own custom lipsticks! Today I wanted to share with you a quick run down of our experience and to share some tips with you on how to make your trip a success! When booking your appointment you have a choice between the "Custom" experience and the "Bespoke" experience.  The "Custom" experience will run you $55 for 1 lipstick or $80 for two while "Bespoke" will set you back $150 for two lipsticks with no option for just one. With the "Custom" option you can pick from about 200 different shades, and then customize your scent and finish. With the "Bespoke" option you can completely design the colour and also the scent and finish. The "Bespoke" experience also includes a lip kit with a scrub and mask. Here is a quick Instagram video I did featuring our "Bespoke" experience. I don't know if they do this for the "Cu...

Toronto...For Beauty Lovers

Image
Recently one of my friends from Ottawa (hi Sabrina! I know you're reading this!) reached out to my for recommendations of things to do in Toronto for beauty lovers. Based in Ottawa, she is in Toronto for work but is trying to carve out some time to explore the city between meetings. Add to that the fact that Generation Beauty is quickly approaching, and I know we will have lots of ladies (and gentlemen!) in town, looking for their beauty fix. Keep reading to see my suggestions! If you would like a more general guide to the city please leave a comment down below and I would be happy to come up with some suggestions! If you happen to be curious, I took that photo a few weeks ago in Trinity Bellwoods Park. Visit North America's Largest Sephora Toronto is home to North America's largest Sephora. Located right at the corner of trendy Yonge & Eglinton (also simply known as Yonge & Eg) this Sephora has it all. From brands that can be harder to find in other locations to a...

High Tea | Toronto's King Edward Hotel

Image
So back in March I went to high tea with my cousin's wife. And it is now mid-May... but anyways high tea is a tradition and I doubt that the tradition has changed much in the last month and a bit. Just goes to show how far behind I fell because of moving (note to self: don't move again for a long while). So with that being said, today I will be sharing a bit about my high tea experience at one of Toronto's most popular locations! I first went for high tea at the Guildwood Tea Room which was right next to my old high school. Sadly they closed recently, but they inspired in me a love for scones that I did not know was possible.  At the King Edward Hotel (or King Eddy as it is known around here) we were presented with quite the tea selection. I went with a tropical green tea while my partner in crime opted for a delicate jasmine tea.  Our first cup of tea was poured for us by our server. I found the service to be quite attentive and of course the decor was stunning. Now... for...

Getting Ready With Blush Pretty

Image
You may know Blush Pretty as a company to book your bridal beauty services with. They have recently opened a chair at 508 Yonge Street (2nd floor) for quick services-- think getting your hair or makeup done before going out. Currently its not a walk in, but you can book the night before. Wearing my custom Bite Beauty lipstick!  Lucky me, I got an email from their team just at about the same time I was thinking of booking a hair appointment before going out to the biggest party of the year. Think prom, but with an open bar, and with all of my friends in my industry. I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette on my eyes. I arrived in my work clothes, and had my dress in my bag. I walked into the small, but bright and inviting loft-styled space to meet Stephanie. Honestly, the room was every beauty blogger's dream: bright, well lit, white, and lots of big mirrors. I described what I wanted: curls, framing my face, but with a bit of a side braid. I asked if she wanted to see my dress (...

Becoming a Mermaid | Aquamermaid Toronto!

Image
When I was first approached with the opportunity to become a mermaid participate in an Aquamermaid class I didn't think twice, I just said yes. Oh, and if I could bring a guest. I didn't want to go at it alone. Keep reading to learn about my fun day (hour) as a majestic mermaid. As somebody who grew up watching Disney princess movies, and loving all things girly, I naturally was thrilled at the chance to be a mermaid. I even considered buying an Ariel branded bikini top that looked like clam shells just for the occasion... I ended up going with my cousin's wife, and we turned it into a girl's day: mermaid, blow out and high tea. Details on the high tea coming soon! My only concern was if the tail would fit me-- looking back that was silly. The tails fit up to about a size 20. If that is a concern for you just email your local school. They are hard to roll up, but that's the case for everybody. Taking them off is way easier! After a quick swim test (two lengths of ...
