drybar | Brand Introduction*

Image
Recently Dry Bar sent me some products to test and review.  Previous to receiving these items in the mail I only owned one Dry Bar product: Sparkling Soda.  Since I really love that product I figured I would include it in this review! Dry Bar is a California based blow dry salon with its own range of hair products available in their salons and at Sephora.  While I was in LA my friends and I stopped in at their Beverly Hills location before hitting the shops.  While at the salon I was able to sip mimosas, and watch Mean Girls-- I need them to open a Toronto location, like, now. Yesterday at Drybar: Mimosas. Mean Girls. Blow Out. Perfect morning! ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ #beverlyhills #drybar #mimosas #girlsday #blowout #relaxing #california #ipsyos #bbloggersca #hair A photo posted by Classy On The Run (@alanna.victoria) on May 23, 2016 at 11:36am PDT Before & After at Drybar in Beverly Hills. Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Palette

Image
Anastasia Beverly Hills recently released two new Glow Kits.  I purchased the "Gleam" palette which is more flattering on fair complexions, where as "That Glow" would be more flattering on darker complexions. Gleam comes with four highlighters: Hard Candy, Mimosa, Starburst and Crushed Pearl.  Each can be removed and replaced when you run out.  They come cased in a silver cardboard palette. To give you a size reference compared to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. I popped a pan out of the Contour Kit to show that the highlighter shades are much larger, also much creamier! These powders are very finely milled-- very easy to blend together if you are interested in wearing more than one at a time.  These metallic powder highlighters are perfect to create a glowing, radiant look! I want to address the obvious elephant in the room.  Why is the palette broken?  Great question!  I ordered it when it was released from Sephora because I mean... look at ...

Estée Lauder | Limited Edition Summer Glow Illuminator*

Image
Summer is finally here! And what better way to kick winter to the curb than with a nice summery glow?  Well I can tell you that it will take another month for my skin to get a touch of a tan, but for fair ladies like me this illuminator is the next best thing.  Keep reading for swatches & my thoughts on this product! "Part of Estée Lauder's new Bronze Goddess Summer Glow collection of glowing, illuminating and bronzing products to achieve an enviable sunkissed radiance" Let me start by saying that I always have a bit of a hard time working with liquid illuminators.  I always want to reach for them as a highlighter, but I know they can do more than that.  So while I will share a picture of me using it in the "traditional sense" I wanted to share my ideas of three different ways you can use this product.  But first, a bit about the product. This liquid illuminator is packaged in a glass bottle with a glass dropper that distributes a small amount of product-- a...

Sephora Favourites | Chic It Easy

Image
Thanks to the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Facebook group I was alerted to a fantastic deal on Sephora's website a few weeks ago.  I am a huge fan of Sephora's favourites sets (previous reviews here , here and here ) and was thrilled to see another one online that I could buy. From the get go this box seemed too good to be true-- a full sized YSL Touche Eclat, a full size NARS lipstick, and then a bunch more stuff?  Too.  Good.  To.  Be.  True.  Not wanting to miss out I ordered this on my Sephora ap, and skipped ebates in my rush to get this in my cart.  Shortly after my order confirmation came in, and then my shipping notice. I don't think that Sephora intended for this set to be sold in Canada.  Not only was there no Canadian price on the box, but I am pretty sure that the packaging was only in English (Canadian products must have packaging in English and French).  The price was an error because despite the fact that I paid $33 CAD for t...

Batiste Dry Shampoo | Original & For Brunettes*

Image
Washing my hair is a real chore.  With thick wavy hair down to my waist, getting it to dry is a real nightmare.  I either end up leaving the house with wet hair, or going to sleep with a damp pillow.  Needless to say, once my hair is dry I want to keep my head away from the shower for as long as possible.  Keep reading for my Day 1, 2, and 3 styles and how I make it work! Now before I get into this whole review and have you thinking that I don’t shower between shampoos… I do shower.  I just put my hair in a shower cap to keep it dry. Batiste was the first brand of dry shampoo that I ever used—for the longest time I thought it was only sold at Winners so I would stock up when I saw it there.  Since then I have come to learn that it is sold in drug stores across Canada. When using dry shampoo, make sure to spray it at least six inches away from the roots of your hair.  The goal of this powdery product is to soak up the excess oils in your hair, so don’t ...
