TINY DELIGHTS | Travel with Benefit Cosmetics

Image
We all know that Benefit just owns it when it comes to packaging. Somehow they just get everything right, and everything so, so pretty. With my big trip coming up (I leave a week today!) I have travel sized makeup on the mind. I always seriously overpack my makeup, and this time I am really trying to pack light. Thankfully Benefit and their adorable travel sets are coming to my rescue! Retailing for $42 CAD, Benefit has recently launched four different sets of minis: Sunday My Prince Will Come, Work Kit Girl, Date Night With Mr. Right and I Pink I Love You. Today I am here with a quick review of Sunday My Prince Will Come and Work Kit Girl.  If you are curious about Date Night With Mr. Right , it contains deluxe mini versions of They're Real, Rockateur blush, Double The Lip in Lusty Rose, and Watt's Up all wrapped up in a cute little gold makeup bag. I Pink I Love You is adorable! Contained in a pearl holographic bag, you will find a deluxe mini Dandelion blush, roller lash ma

Cool Cucumber + Dill & Hello Jalapeno | Healthy Crunch Giveaway

Image
I believe that everything is fine (when it comes to food) with moderation, which is why you don't usually see me getting super trendy with my meals. I like to eat healthy, but I like to eat. The last time I was talking about kale was actually a shampoo and conditioner review with Pacifica  -- I reference this because I don't talk about healthy food just because its healthy. I talk about it when its yummy! What better way to head into Canada 150 weekend than to have a giveaway with your favourite Canadian beauty blog & my favourite Canadian snack company? Since last summer ( when I first worked with Healthy Crunch! ) Healthy Crunch has landed in the shelves of Costco (which is huge, literally!) and grown so, so much. Today I am thrilled to be back posting about them and featuring their newest flavours: The Cool Cucumber + Dill and Hello Jalapeno. Plus, keep reading until the end for a little giveaway! Healthy Crunch is a Canadian based artisanal kale chip company. The chips

Pixi | 5 Favourites

Image
Remember that time that Target was in Canada? And we had Pixi, and Sonia Kashuk, and a big box store just filled with everything you don't need and yet at the same time need so badly. Well then Target left Canada (and with it a whole bunch of huge empty stores) and with it so did so many amazing brands. Target even made NYX easier to get! Thankfully Shoppers Drug Mart has stepped up to the plate, and not only is NYX availiable in most locations, but so is Pixi! With so many amazing products to choose from (seriously, narrowing it down to 5 was hard!) today I am here to share with you my five favourite products from Pixi! The Endless Silky Eye Pen  is a wonderfully silky and creamy eyeliner that is silky to apply, but really long wearing. It has an impressive colour range, including traditional black and brown, but also champagne, various blues, greens, and purples. This eyeliner earned a special place in my heart when I was in need of a winged liner and couldn't find my go-to K

Generation Beauty Toronto 2017 | What each brand gave out

Image
Hello and welcome to my Generation Beauty Toronto 2017 post where I will tell you (to the very best of my ability) who is giving out what. Obviously I just want a quick disclaimer that while I will try my best to be accurate, this is totally subject to change and subject to the brands. This image is from a past Urban Decay event. Urban Decay will not be at Generation Beauty Toronto. They were at Creator Day. At Creator Day they gave each creator there the Naked Heat Palette! Wow!    If you are looking for more information about Generation Beauty I encourage you to check out my past posts: My tips for a successful Generation Beauty experience Generation Beauty Day 1 Experience | 2016 Generation Beauty Day 2 Experience | 2016 Generally speaking each brand asked for an action to be made on social media in order to get your gift. The actions generally included following them on Instagram or posting a selfie and using a certain hashtag. Ciate London Deluxe mini bamboo bronzer or a deluxe mi

Busy as a Bee | Hillcrest Mall

Image
Blogging has opened me up to quite a number of unique experiences that I don't think I could have imagined in my wildest dreams. Meeting a contestant on the bachelor? Thanks Laneige! Being surprised by a celebrity at a beauty class? I have Make Up Forever to thank! Getting literally the same PR box as countless HUGE YouTubers? Merci beaucoup Too Faced! But in terms of straight up the strangest, most unique, and otherwise entirely unexpected? Being invited to stand on a mall rooftop while a lady wearing nothing other than street clothes opens up a hive with roughly 10,000 bees, while I stand just feet away? Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill just may take the cake! Bees actually don't really freak me out. Its the wasps that worry me (no, not the country club variety). I actually find single bees on their own quite charming. I don't often open up about my personal life. However four years ago this month my Poppy (my maternal grandfather) passed away from cancer. I actually feel

Blogger Swaps & Life Chats

Image
Last weekend I had a bunch of my favourite blogger girls over for a fun afternoon of makeup, wine, and life chats. Everybody was asked to bring some makeup from their collection that they were looking to re-home, and a snack to share if they felt like it. Keep reading to see just how much makeup there was to swap and what I came home with! Once people started to arrive we began to sort the makeup in to various categories -- lips, face, nails, "other" and so on. Beyond the standard makeup offerings there was a multi-option hair wand with like 8 different heads, some books, and tea! Once everything was in the right spot we took our time selecting what we wanted to go home with. The idea behind the swap was not to trade items one for one, but rather to bring things that you were happy to declutter, and to leave with some items that you were happy to try! If anything, my goal with this swap was to come home with less than I arrived with! Our event was made all the more classy and

One Dress Two Ways | Joe Fresh

Image
There are two kinds of people in the world. There are the kinds of people who find out that their friend is wearing the same dress as them to a party, and they freak out in a bad way. And then there are the kind of people who find out that their friend is wearing the same dress as them to a party, and they freak out in a good way. In case you were wondering, I am proud to say that I am the "in a good way" kind of person*. *unless you wore the same dress as me to my wedding. Then I would not be so casual about it. ** Don't forget to check out Bri's post here! ** Nobody knows how awkward it is walking around together dressed like matching 4 year old twins.  Annnnyways so a week or two ago my blogger babe friend Brianne (from the lovely Sincerely, Bri ) and I decided that we would team up and do a photo shoot together. Some #OOTDs for me, some #OOTDs for her, and we all live happily ever after. Well then I post a picture of this dress in my Vaughan Mills post , and she c

IPSY JUNE 2017 | Unboxing (video)

Image
Hello friends! I am back today with another video! Keep reading for the sparksnotes version, and for the video that you can watch! Lately I have been feeling that some content is better as a video and others as a blog post. I find that I enjoy watching sub box unboxings better than I do reading about them, and I hope that you feel the same way! Keep watching to see what came in my box, what I liked, what I didn't, and even watch me try a few things on for the first time! What did you get in your box this month? Hope you loved it! My biggest disapointment with my bag this month was not the products I got (hello NYX and Trust Fund Beauty) but rather, the colours I ended up with. So much hope, but alas, not quite! ALSO -- I am planning on doing a 1 Year On YouTube Giveaway! I would love your suggestions of what I should include! I want this to be a giveaway that you guys love. Have a beautiful Monday, Alanna I am an ipsyOS member, however I do not recieve any sort of discount on my ba

Will I Buy It | Summer 2017 (Video)

Image
As many of you may now know, I am back producing content on YouTube! After a few months away when life just got busy I am back in full force and loving it. Keep reading for the "sparks notes" version of this video, and the link so you can watch it in full! Buying makeup can become an addiction (you know I'm right!). In this video I share my thoughts on some of the newest releases in beauty and my thought process on if I will be buying them. With so many beautiful things being released this season it can be hard to say no! A few products I am not going to be purchasing include the Becca x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face palette (I don't think it would be flattering on my fair complexion), the Dyson Super Sonic Hair Dryer (because I don't have $500 lying around for a blow dryer) and the Luxie Wonder Woman Brush Collection (you can blame the USD on that one!). As for products that have caught my eye,I can't wait to get my hands on the Too Faced Clover Palette, the NARS

Outfit Of The Day | Summer Casual

Image
When it comes to summer fashion I am always on the lookout for easy to wear dresses. Something I could wear to work on a more casual day, on the weekend running errands, or off to brunch with friends. I came across this dress at Joe Fresh at Vaughan Mills and fell in love. Keep reading for all the details! This peppy red dress otherwise known as the "Contrast Embroidery Dress" retails for $29 (and it was 25% off when I bought it at Vaughan Mills!). I love the white embroidery details on the top (perfect colours for Canada Day) and the casual tassel at the neckline.  I paired this dress with this fantastically detailed purse I picked up at Winners at the Dixie Outlet Mall. I think that this warm brown leather pairs well with basically anything, but I love the way it compliments the dress.  My main motivation for picking up this dress was that I thought it would be perfect for travel. Light weight, flattering, pretty in pictures, functional, and easy to wash and dry. The funct

The Vaughan Mills Shopping Shuttle Is Back!

Image
Last week I was invited to be on Vaughan Mills first shopping shuttle of the season! For those of us in Toronto we all know that Vaughan Mills is a shopping destination full of great deals. But we also know that it can be a hike to get there... especially without a car! Enter: The Vaughan Mills Shopping Shuttle. The shuttle is clearly, and creatively branded! I'll take those sun glasses please! The shuttle departs daily from June 1st until September 30th at 10 am, returning from Vaughan Mills at 3:00 pm. Afternoon service leaves downtown at 1:00 pm and leaves the mall at 6:00 PM. Service will then resume just in time for Christmas shopping on November 24th running through to December 26th with the exception of Christmas day.  The bus seats 55 passengers, and it is important to be back on your assigned us as the busses do indeed fill up. I arrived at about 9:30 AM to 123 Front Street thinking I would be early only to find a gaggle of people. I will admit that I walked right pas
